Arundel Town and Arundel castle

Probably most famous for Arundel Castle, home of the Duke of Norfolk, Arundel is also famous for it's many antique shops. The River Arun passes through Arundel on its way out to sea at Littlehampton, where boat trips can be enjoyed in the summer months.

Just a 20-minute drive east of Barton Manor and you will discover Arundel, a town that combines a unique mixture of history, architecture and wildlife producing a wonderful atmosphere.

Chichester, county town of West Sussex, is actually a City boasting one of the finest Cathedrals in the area. It offers a wonderful array of coffee lounges and the very best in high quality shopping. Founded in Roman times, the whole area is steeped in history, and with the famous Chichester Festival Theatre, Goodwood and its horse and motor racing events, plus of course Chichester marina and harbour and the South Downs, the area has something to offer everyone.

Closest to home at Barton Manor is the village of Pagham. Famous for it's nature reserve where bird spotters enjoy an abundance of birdlife. There are also many walks and cycle rides on relatively flat footpaths that criss-cross the area and wonderful views out across the Channel. Barton Manor stands on the edge of the village of Pagham and Nyetimber. It is very difficult to say where Nyetimber ends and Pagham starts, as they merge quite perfectly and compliment each other to a tee.

Bosham and Cnut (Canute) is a picturesque fishing village witha wealth of history and mentioned in the Bayeux tapestry and also thplace where Canutes daughter is buried.

Felpham is a picturesque seaside village with a wealth of history with a Saxon/Norman church and beachside cafes. William Blake lived in Felpham and loved the area writing his famous phrase 'this green and pleasant land'.

Kingley Vale is an amazing area of the South Downs to the north west of Chichester comprising a fantastic woodland with ancient yew trees and brilliant views from the top. It is known for its twisted and ancient yews and is topped by The Devil’s Humps, two Bronze Age barrows and Goosehill Camp.
